No Time To Waste Dirk

The acquisition of Jason Kidd in exchange for Devin Harris, Desagana Diop, & three other players meant that the San Antonio Spurs now have a chance to win against the Dallas Mavericks. Devin Harris & Desagana Diop were two of the Mavericks that really caused trouble for the Spurs. But since they're off to New Jersey now, the Spurs have a bigger chances of winning against the Mavs. And that's just been proven with the Spurs winning 97-94 against the Mavs. Every time we come down here it's a highly contested game. It's a big time rivalry," said coach Avery Johnson.

Yeah, I know that Mavs are still working on things but the clock is ticking. If they don't find their rhythm in time, they'll find themselves vying for a good spot in the playoffs which isn't gonna be easy. The Western Conference is tight and teams are few games behind the number one team, which is "currently" occupied by the LA Lakers. Jason Kidd is a great addition to the Mavs but they are still weak without the defense from Diop and quickness of Harris. They need to shape up now. Coach Avery is probably having migraines in shaping the Mavs into a greater team. Greater than the Mavs who faced last year's upset against the Golden State Warriors.

He Chose His Home

Omg!!.. I'm so happy and I hope my fellow Spurs fans are happy too!.. Brent Barry chose to go back to the San Antonio Spurs even with the offers from Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets*, & Dallas Mavericks.

It's all here in this article I've just read!.. >> Barry's ties to San Antonio were just too strong to sign with another team << Oh, I'm just so happy!.. I don't know what else to say. I'm just very very happy! =)

Where Will He Be?

Brent Barry is now a free agent and has 30 days to choose which team he wants to be in. Teams like the Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets*, Dallas Mavericks*, and Boston Celtics are trying to buy him out of free agency. The San Antonio Spurs, the team who traded him and Francisco Elson for Kurt Thomas, has showed interest in getting Barry back but they'd have to wait for 30 days for him to re-sign. 30 days is a long waiting period for the Spurs and Barry might decide to sign to a new team. I'm just crossing my fingers that Barry would return to the Spurs. He's a great 3-point shooter, understands the system of the Spurs, and is comfortable with his former teammates. Plus, his family lives in San Antonio. I really have no idea where Brent Barry will be, I just hope he chooses San Antonio.

All About Manu

Obi-Wan Ginobili - that's what one of the many banners of Spurs fans showed during the 2005 NBA Finals. 2005 was the year Manu Ginobili made it known to everyone in the NBA and worldwide that he is one hell of a player. The lefty Emanuel David "Manu" Ginobili is a native from Bahia Blanca, Argentina and is playing for the San Antonio Spurs.

There are a lot of Argentinian players in the NBA now but Ginobili outshines them all, not just because of the success the Spurs got but because of his consistency. I am not a basketball expert but I can tell that he's very consistent and determined too. Recently, the San Antonio Spurs won 100-99 against the Minnesota Timberwolves and Ginobili scored a total of 44 pts. I think I'm seeing the Ginobili I've seen in the 2005 Finals. With his speedy drives to the basket, crushing 3's, swift steals, & great D, what more could coach Gregg Popovich ask for?

Manu Ginobili also had his downs and that was the 2006 NBA season. He's obtained an injury which kept him out for several games and when he got back, the Ginobili of 2005 was no longer there. So, the acquisition of Michael Finley happened and Ginobili was left as the 6th man of the Spurs. I was really disappointed about the Ginobili-to-6th-man strategy of Popovich. I thought it was unfair. But despite being the 6th man of the Spurs, Ginobili strived to redeem himself by simply playing his best. Sad to say, the Spurs didn't make it to the 2006 NBA Finals.

Then came the 2007 NBA season and Ginobili has gotten more comfortable as the 6th man of the Spurs. He's played great basketball during the season and I think he's understood his place in the team. And I too have finally understood why Pop placed him as the 6th man. He was placed as the 6th man to boost the confidence of the team and the depth of the bench. Ginobili's drive in winning games made him one of the most exceptional players in the NBA. Ginobili along with Tim Duncan & Tony Parker held the Spurs at the top of the league. And the Spurs soon rallied to the Finals, defeated the rising Cleveland Cavaliers to 4-0 and got their 4th championship.

After winning another championship, the Spurs have become the team to beat. But for the Spurs squad it's another season for improvement and a lot of preparation. This season, the Spurs were cursed with injuries. Ginobili had one which involves his left hand - his shooting hand. Duncan and Parker also had injuries which all happened December of 2007. Good thing Ginobili was there to help in keeping the Spurs alive and win games even with a small equipment attached to his vulnerable left hand. And this year, I really feel that the Ginobili we've known during the 2005 season is back. My goodness, he's been playing exceptional basketball!! Great D, smooth 3's, and all. Watch out for him!

The Trade Craze

The trade deadline is getting to a close. Teams are trying to trade some of their good players for better ones to get into the playoffs. Some of the famous trades include the acquisition of Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics. The most talked-about trade was Shaquille O'neal going to Phoenix Suns in exchange for the star-player Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks. Everybody questioned how efficient Shaq will be with regards to his efficiency in playing the Suns' way. The most recent trade was of the Kidd-to-Dallas trade. Yes, Jason Kidd has returned to Dallas and he's played as a Mavericks against the New Orleans Hornets. And now, the hottest buzz is the three-team trade between the Cleveland Cavaliers, Seattle Supersonics, & Chicago Bulls. If this trade becomes successful, Ben Wallace will possibly go to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Another trade comes from the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs plan to trade Francisco Elson and Brent Barry [!!] for Kurt Thomas. I understand why Pop chose Elson but Barry? I just don't understand it. Barry has been playing great. If not for his injury, he would've proven to Pop that he's worthy to remain as a Spur. "I wish there had been a local bar that was open," said Barry. And FYI the teams that are showing their interest on Barry are the Phoenix Suns and the Houston Rockets!.. Argh! What can Kurt Thomas do to the Spurs now? Can someone tell me? Oh and by the way, Manu Ginobili rocked the Spurs game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Manu poured in 44pts and Tim Duncan adding 24 pts with 14 rebounds. Spurs won 100-99.

Waiting In Vain - Annie Lennox

Waiting In Vain - OST Serendipity
Get this widget | Track details | eSnips Social DNA

Serendipity is one of my favorite movies. I think I've watched it more than 10x. Me & my bestfriends have always believed that "destiny" is real and that there is someone out there that is really meant for you. But that was a long a time ago. Now that we've grown and are still learning more about life and love, we've learned that there ain't no destiny. It's our choices and actions that makes our destiny. Dr. Gregory House said in one of the Dr. House episodes that, "doing things, changes things." Bullseye. He got the point there.

Even though I don't believe in that so-called "destiny" anymore, I still love the movie Serendipity, such a very romantic film. Hmmm.. Waiting In Vain is one of the soundtracks of Serendipity, hear it and I'm sure you'll love it.

From the very first time I rest my eyes on you, boy
My heart said follow through
But I know now that I'm way down on your line
But the waiting feeling's fine

So don't treat me like a puppet on a string
'Cause I know how to do my thing
Don't talk to me as if you think I'm dumb
I wanna know when you're gonna come

See-
I don't wanna wait in vain for your love
I don't wanna wait in vain for your love
I don't wanna wait in vain for your love
'Cause summer is here
And I'm still waiting there
Winter is here
I'm still waiting there

Like I said-
It's been three years since I'm knocking on your door
And I still can knock some more
Ooh, boy, ooh, boy, is it crazy? Look, I wanna know now
For I to knock some more

You see-
In life I know
That there is lots of grief
But your love is my relief
Tears in my eyes burn
Tears in my eyes burn
While I'm waitin'
While I'm waitin' for my day
You see-
*repeat

Like I said-
I don't wanna, I don't wanna
I don't wanna, I don't wanna
I don't wanna wait in vain
I don't wanna, I don't wanna
I don't wanna, I don't wanna
I don't wanna wait in vain

It's been three years since I'm knocking on your door
And I still can knock some more
Ooh, boy, ooh, boy, is it crazy? Look, I wanna know now
Like I said-
Tears in my eyes burn
Tears in my eyes burn
While I'm waiting
While I'm waiting for my day

You see-
Ooh, boy, ooh, boy, is it crazy? Look, I wanna know now
For I to knock some more
In life I know there is lots of grief
But your love is my relief

All-Star Weekend: Big Men Can Dunk

Of the events that happened during the All-Star Weekend, my most anticipated event was the slam dunk competition. Gerald Green, last year's slam dunk champion, was ousted by none other than Superman, [oh sorry], I mean Dwight Howard. I got to watch the slam dunk competition and I was really impressed about the creativity of Dwight Howard. I really love the dunk where he slapped the ball to the board and back to his hand and then the DUNK!! That happened in seconds, so I wasn't really sure if it was a dunk when I first saw it. The replays came and the first word that entered my mind was, "wow!" No wonder the commentator said after "that" dunk, "I'm going home!! Lol!" The Birthday Cake Dunk from Gerald Green was nice but everybody was just waiting for the next dunk from Howard. So, what did you enjoyed most during the All-Star Weekend? Was it the Rookie V Sophomore game? Or was it the East V West game?

I'm Not Surprised

I've read an article from FanNation.com about the San Antonio Spurs and a deal for Franscisco Elson. I'm not going to be surprised about this move from the Spurs, Franscisco Elson hasn't been playing well during the Spurs' road trip and the game before that. He's good but most of the time he's not.

5 Mavericks Is Equal To Kidd

Yes, the Jason-Kidd-to-Dallas deal is final. Kidd is going to Dallas in exchange for 5 Dallas Mavericks players, namely: Devin Harris, Desagana Diop, Keith Van Horn, Trenton Hassell, & Moe Ager. Trading Devin Harris is the biggest mistake in the deal. I'd rather trade Jason Terry for Kidd, but I'm no Mark Cuban. [sigh] He's [Harris] a great player, I actually think he's much better than Jason Terry. What do you think? Is the Kidd trade worth it? ``It doesn't matter what moves you make, if they're not playing well for you, if you're not jelling, if you don't find the right rhythm or the right people to put on the court at the same time, it's not going to work for you." -- Tim Duncan, San Antonio Spurs.

The Chequered Flag Is Up

This is the time when things get really exciting for me. The NBA All-Star has started and Formula 1 is about to start soon!.. I know it's kinda unusual for a lady like me to be into sports like basketball and car racing, but hey I really enjoy sports! That's what's important, right? I haven't been able to watch Formula 1 last season because of the exciting postseason [NBA, San Antonio Spurs, Finals]. And now that it's about to start, I'll try to keep myself in-the-know about Formula 1. I remember the days of Michael Schumacher whose had 7 championships. He's dominated almost every race which I eventually find boring. Even his brother Ralf couldn't keep up with him. But now that he's retired [that was actually a long time ago] and Ferrari acquired a new set of drivers [Kimi Raikkonen & Felipe Massa], Formula 1 isn't going to be predictable like before.

Do it. - Steve Nash

I'm loving the numbers I'm getting from the boxscores of the San Antonio Spurs starting from their game against the Indiana Pacers to the Washington Wizards. I'm happy that the Spurs are back in the rhythm despite the absence of Tony Parker and Brent Barry. But what I've been thinking about lately was the O'neal-Marion&Banks trade. I just don't think Shaq will fit into the Suns style of play. “I look forward to making people eat their words,", said O'neal. Well, if he wants people to eat their words, then, why hasn't he proven himself during his stay as a Heat? Critics won't come up with such an idea if he hasn't shown his weaknesses.

Oh well. What I know now is that the Phoenix Suns is really serious in making it to the Finals and win the NBA Championship. For the past seasons, the Suns has become one of the elite teams in the West. But despite all effort esp from Steve Nash, the Suns just couldn't get through the Finals. Mike D'Antoni, I guess, have just realized that being edgy on the offensive end isn't enough. And so, the acquisition of Shaq was made in exchange for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks [don't know him]. If Shaq stays healthy, he could help the Suns become a balanced team both in the offensive and the defensive end. The big question now is, will Shaq be able to bring the Suns to the Finals? The West is just teeming with top caliber teams like the rising New Orleans Hornets*, Utah Jazz, Denver Nuggets, Portland Trailblazers*, Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, LA Lakers, and Golden State Warriors [have i missed some team?]. "That just shows you how good the West is and how dominant a lot of teams are," Robert Horry said. So, will the Suns be able to get passed those teams come playoffs time? "Even though he was playing at a high level, I sensed he was frustrated," said Steve Kerr, Phoenix Suns General Manager.

Mighty Mouse??

The San Antonio Spurs won against the Phoenix Suns and it's one of those games were they played great defensively. I hope the win against the mighty Suns is the beginning of the Spurs getting-into-the-rhythm state despite Tony Parker's absence. Speaking of mighty, Mighty Mouse, former-Grizzly, is playing for the Spurs. Damon Stoudamire aka Mighty Mouse is now officially a part of the Spurs team. I don't know when Mighty Mouse is gonna play though but I hope he doesn't play like Nick Van Exel, the baldness! =s The next game of the San Antonio Spurs is gonna be against the Indiana Pacers. [Game preview] Manu Ginobili is going to play more minutes but not too much I think because he might run out of gas. Damon Stoudamire is going to give the Spurs' bench the spark that was usually provided by Manu. We'll see if Mighty Mouse is fit to become a Spur. [got no picture of him]
